On September 3, 2021, the Moscow Theater “School of Modern Drama” hosted the solemn ceremony of awarding the II International Award “Pure Sound” for the best audio recording of works of Russian academic music.
The voting of the final stage of the II International Award for the Best Audio Recording of Works of Russian Academic Music “Pure Sound” has ended. On September 3, at a gala evening at the School of Modern Drama Theater in Moscow, the names of the winners and prizewinners of the competition will be announced. The founder of the Award is Russian Musical Union.
From August 30 to September 13, the XI International Academy of Young Composers, organized with the support of Russian Musical Union, will take place in the town of Tchaikovsky, Perm region.
Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, it was decided to postpone all events of the Next Generation Composers Lab international creative laboratory, which was to be held in Moscow from July 19 to 24, to the year of 2022.
The voting took place at the qualifying stage of the international award in the field of sound recording of academic music “Pure Sound”, organized by Russian Musical Union with the assistance of the National Fund for Copyright Holders’ Support, the International Music Council, the European Music Council, the “Novy Vek” Bank, the Orpheus radio station, the CineLab studio, Sennheiser and other partners.
On July 5, a grandiose concert of teachers and students in the Meyerhold Theater Center closed the Second Performers’ Workshop of Contemporary Academic Music, organized by the Association of Contemporary Academic Music of the Guild of Composers of Russian Musical Union and Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME).
From June 28 to July 5, the Second Performers Workshop of Modern Academic Music will be held in Moscow. The hosts of the event are the Association of Contemporary Academic Music of the Guild of Composers of Russian Musical Union and Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME).
How to create music for a movie, what virtual musical instruments are, how to negotiate a composer's fee – experts from the Next Generation Composers Lab will tell you about this and much more in a series of lectures and master classes. The NGC Lab events will take place from July 19 to 24. The workshops will be open for general public also, not only for professional film composers. The main lecturer and headliner of the Lab will be the well known Hollywood composer and conductor Harry Gregson-Williams and he will give three lectures and one concert. The symphony orchestra and choir under his direction will perform the famous soundtracks written by him for Hollywood films. The concert will take place at the Moscow House of Music on July 21.
The official ceremony of opening a memorial plaque to the composer, Honored Artist of the RSFSR Arkady Ostrovsky took place on June 1, 2021, on Children's Day, in Moscow at the address: 13, Gazetny Pereulok Street, Building 1. Arkady Ostrovsky lived in that house for 10 years – from 1956 to 1967.
Due to the large number of applications for participation in the “Pure Sound” International Award for the best audio recording of Russian academic music submitted in 2020 and 2021 in eight nominations and which successfully passed the stage of technical examination, the organizing committee of the Award decided to extend the term of the qualifying vote.
The acceptance of applications for participation in the International “Pure Sound” Award 2021 for the best audio recording of works of Russian academic music has been completed.
On April 8, Moscow will host “The Spring in Russia” International Chamber Music Festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Russian Musical Union is a partner of the anniversary forum.
The names of young composers who will become members of the Next Generation Composers Lab international creative laboratory have been announced. The list includes several composers from Russia, and one of them will receive a training grant from Russian Musical Union, the organizer of the project.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to develop regular financial support to composers in Russia. The President instructed the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to draft and submit appropriate proposals to him.
In Krasnodar, on March 29, the VIII International Competition of Pianists-Performers of Russian Music named after M. A. Balakirev will take place, organized by the Krasnodar State Institute of Culture with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Russian Musical Union is a partner of the project.
This summer, from July 19 to 24, the first in Russia international creative laboratory for composers writing music for films, named the Next Generation Composers Lab, will be launched in Moscow. The organizer of the project is Russian Musical Union, the official partner is Russian Union of Composers, and the main mentor will be the Hollywood star Harry Gregson-Williams.
From March 29 to March 31, 2021, Moscow will host the second "Journalists Readings" - a workshop for young journalists, musicologists, and cultural experts.

On November 29, 2020, the results of the II International Competition of Young Composers "The New Classics" held by the Moscow Conservatory, were announced.
The international forum-fest Jazz Across Borders (JAB) was held online on November 13 and 14. The event was held with the support of the Russian Musical Union and the Directorate of educational programs in the field of culture and art of the Moscow Department of Culture. The forum brought together over 10,000 people from 70 countries of the world.
